Livorno boss Davide Nicola believes Sunday afternoon’s test at home against Juventus, the team he considers the league’s best, will be a revealing marker of the extent of his newly-promoted side’s development so far this season.
On the hunt for his fourth victory in Serie A after guiding the Amaranto to the top flight via the Serie B play-offs last season, Nicola recognised that it takes time in this league to find your feet. “We still need to find a balance that suits us: we have only played 12 games. Juve have a perfect setup and a brilliant manager, but we’ll aim to cause them problems by keeping them at bay and then looking to hit on the counter. We’ll need to work well as a unit, playing with energy and confidence in our own abilities.”
